Orthodox Patriarchs of Alexandria

Coptic Popes of Alexandria

It seems clear from these lists that there is a totally different line (with a few exceptions)  of "apostolic bishops" branching from the same fake line from the year 451 (the year of the Council of Chalcedron Schism). So it seems the claim the division was not immediate but spanned over 200 years may not be altogether true.

Also the research of the scholars compiling both Orthodox and Coptic

perspectives may be incomplete or influx.

​

My objective in studying these lists of "apostolic bishops / popes" is to point to the fact various Orthodox churches and similar religions deny whole lines of "apostolic clergy" or part of the lines as false or imposters, which helps to discredit the entire idea of hand-me-down power of this kind.

 

As if all this is not complex enough by coincidence both lists end with the same name and numerals Theodore II - but they are two totally different men, one from Egypt one from Greece..
